Nov 21 & 28 / Zoom

poetry with jasmin

Join Jasmin Kaur for this intimate, two-session poetry workshop where you will hone your writing skills and gain peer feedback on a selection of your poems.

This free, six person workshop will take place over two sessions. Please note the times for both sessions as your participation will be needed at both.

Session 1: Introduction to Poetry Writing

Writers will be guided through creative writing prompts to spark inspiration and will be introduced to a selection of creative writing strategies to build meaning and impact in their poems. By the end of the session, writers will be familiar with the group workshop process for session 2 and will be prepared to submit their selection of 3 poems for the group workshopping session in week two. After the Zoom session, participants will have a week to annotate and peer edit their fellow writers' poem submissions and prepare for group editorial discussion in session 2.

Date: Saturday, November 21st

Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM PST

Session 2: Group Workshop

In this longer workshop, writers will begin with a 10 minute free write to tap into their creativity. They will then follow a traditional creative writing workshop structure to provide and receive feedback on their writing from their peers. Group workshop sessions are empowering, compassionate and intend to build writers up rather than tear them down. Each writer will receive an equal amount of feedback time and will be invited to ask questions to their peers about strategies for writing improvement.

Date: Saturday, November 28th

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM PST
